Being an artist is so important in today's society so we can freely express ourselves with no backlash or judgement. Being in art class inspired me to see how beautiful and fun creating art is and opened me to a new community of people. I got started by picking up a pencil and pen. My favorite artist is Frida Kahlo because she shows creativity.
My favorite art medium is painting with a paint brush and acrylic paint. My art style is a little cartoon mixed with realism and it is unique. I developed my art style by being myself. I do the hardest part first and make sure I'm confident with what I choose to do for the assignment. When picking what to make I choose what connects me to the topic or what I feel like that week or month or just day. When making creative decisions I try to figure out what makes the most sense for the topic. When I make mistakes in my artwork I find it a little annoying but I always find a way to incorporate it into my work. I know when my artwork is finished when it fits my standards or the assignments standards or it has no white spots and shows true emotions I'm going for. My goals as an artist is to make art that is unique and connects to people and learning everyday. I am struggling with motivation and putting effort into my artworks. The biggest challenge for me as an artist is making a commitment to my art. Because I'm trying to get better, I make sure I practice and open myself to the criticism of my work. Visual art is probably not something I would want to do professionally or as a job but I will definitely do it in my free time.
When giving advice I would tell a new artist to take their time and enjoy what they are making. I would also tell them that everyone has their own art style.
