For me, art is important to society because it shares creativity with the world. People all around the Earth are influenced by art, sometimes these dreams that were made become careers. Almost all of my family, including my grandparents, are artists. Which is what inspired me to learn and practice this skill. When I started, I honestly wasn’t very interested in art. But, when I learned about all of the different techniques and art styles, it amazed me. My favorite artist is Robert Best. He makes all of these fashion illustrations and his work leaves me starstruck. All of the different colors and styles of dresses he makes and it looks so messy but organized at the same time.
My favorite art medium is clay and colored pencils. I love to try to make little trinkets out of clay and then paint over it. I like practicing shading with colored pencils. In my opinion, I would say my art style is very colorful. I like to kind of find colors that go together, but are opposites. For example, pink and brown are very different colors but they go together well. I guess I developed this artstyle by going to a lot of different museums when I was younger. I always liked the more colorful paintings better than others. When I am having trouble finding what to draw, I always base it off of what I want to draw at the moment. It usually is based on my emotion. Like, if I’m sad I usually draw aquatic things. I guess it's just a habit I developed. If I ever make a mistake, I just fix it. Making a little mistake when creating isn’t a big deal. Artwork isn’t ever finished, you can always add something, even if it's just a little polka dot. When I decide I’m finished, it’s usually when my brain runs out of ideas to add. When I’m trying to stay on task, I usually just don't think about what I’m making. I just let my hand do all the work and try to think about something else. Even though I’ve practiced a whole lot, there are still things I could do better, that's just how humans work. Like, I definitely could try to work on my line work and go out of my comfort zone a little bit. What I mean by that is I’m usually always just drawing females when I could practice drawing another gender. The biggest challenge to deal with as an artist is probably proportions. I always draw the head too big or the body too little. I recommend using what's called “The bean bag method”. It really helps me with making sure that everything looks good. It’s always good to have goals no matter what your specialty is. For example, if you like culinary arts, your goal might be to have your own restaurant. My goals for art are definitely to excel more in painting and paint a mural on the wall of my garage. To reach these goals I'm always practicing. I try not to overwork myself because eventually your mind will basically stop working if you make too much. Visual art is definitely something that I would be interested in doing in the future. I would be a fashion designer because as I’ve said Robert Best has really inspired me and showed me a part of fashion that I wasn’t aware of. Like I said before, this dream I have might become a career.
Some advice I would give to newer artists is to just let your creativity take over the canvas. You don't need to have everything be perfect because as long as it’s perfect in your eyes, nobody else's opinions matter.
