I was inspired to be an artist because I always liked art a lot, I was always pretty good at it, and I wanted to be an artist because of that. I got started as an artist when I started drawing as a little kid, and never really stopped. Artists are important to the world and society because they help people express themselves, to understand things, to be informed or persuaded of something, to keep records of history, to help people when they need help, and so much more.

I love drawing characters (from things or just my own) and putting them in scenarios, so when choosing what to draw, I usually just do that. I have a more cartoon-y artstyle, and I developed this artstyle by experimenting and exaggerating some things, without putting too much stress on it looking ‘realistic’. When I have to make creative decisions, I just go with the flow, but stay within what I know I can do and what I know I can’t, so I don’t end up stressed or having ‘messed something up’. The biggest challenge is having the motivation to do art, or keep doing it, etc.  My favorite artist is myself, because I’m amazing and having confidence in myself can help me stay motivated and happy with myself. When I make mistakes, I do my best to fix them, unless I like what they did - then I add onto them. To continue growing as an artist, I intend to keep working on anatomy and animation, among other skills that I’m interested in learning and practicing. Two goals I have as an artist are to 1) make a successful pilot for an indie show, and 2) to be well known for my art. As an artist, I am currently struggling with finding motivation and furthering my art career.

When I have a deadline, I usually stay on task and motivated by getting some inspiration - references, maybe some music to listen to, etc - and then I get working. My favorite medium is digital because I can do pretty much ANYTHING on there, with any tools I need, with easy-to -access references, and can draw whatever I want, whenever I want. I don’t really have a way to know when I’m finished with a piece - I can just feel it. But the last thing I usually do is add my signature (and maybe an anti-ai filter if it’s digital/I plan to post or share it).

Some Advice for a beginner artist? Don’t be discouraged. Don’t give up. Don’t force yourself to immediately be good at something. Just practice.

I would like to professionally be in the Media Arts industry, as an animator, character designer, a voice actor, things like that. I’ve always been interested in those things, and would love to be doing that for the rest of my life - especially without having some boring, normal-person job to get in my way of it.
