BREAD GOOSE (Rowan)
My inspiration to become an artist was because of my older sister, who I currently learn most of my art tips from. I got started by just drawing, and using references from other drawings (such as my sister’s). My favorite type of material/medium would probably be air dry clay, or colored pencils.
I usually decide what to draw by hearing a type of music or seeing something, but sometimes I just wait until an idea pops into my head. Honestly, I'm not sure what my art style is, because I keep going back and forth, trying different styles each time I draw. I developed these art styles by just getting different ideas, or seeing a drawing I like, so I draw something like the style it's in. I manage my time when I have a deadline by trying to be as focused as I can, which can be hard sometimes, but I usually do get most of what I'm doing by the end of the day. I usually know when an art piece of mine is done once I'm pleased with it, or when I feel like I've added enough detail.
2 goals I currently have as an artist are figuring out what my art style is, and getting better at painting. Something I’m currently struggling with as an artist is that i don't have the best art materials (2 low quality pens, good-ish marker set), so it sets me back a bit when im drawing. When I'm faced with creative decisions, I usually just use the first thing that pops into my head, like how I decide what to draw.
Personally, I would say that the biggest challenge of being an artist is taking criticism, because if you're proud of a piece of art, but then someone were to criticize it, you may start thinking your art is bad, but you gotta learn to not think too hard about it and just take it as feedback. Also personally, my favorite (visual) artist would be my old schools art teacher, Ms. Rooney, she inspired me greatly and taught me alot about art. When I make mistakes, usually I dust it off unless it's a BIG mistake, such as accidentally dumping a gallon of paint on my art, but other than that, I'll attempt to fix it as well as I can.
Something I'm going to do to make sure I grow as an artist is that I will try to be more focused when I'm doing art with a deadline, and also learning to accept my art unless it is actually just scribbles or random things (not doodles). Some advice I would give to new artists is to accept criticism and ask for feedback, because if you don't, you won't learn how to do art as well. Being an artist is also important to the world, because if there were no artists or art, people's creativity would go to waste, and so would their talent. Visual art is something I would want to do professionally, and I might be able to do it if I took more art lessons, or learn how to animate, or learn to sculpt better and get better materials! : )
