When Plessy artists became

digital storytellers...

The digital artworks on this website were assignments structured around different themes. Each scene or panel is to be appreciated as its own individual piece, combined with others to tell you a story that may make you giggle, or leave you entirely confused.

Our comic artists spent the 1st quarter building foundational skills anchored around the elements of art (line, shape, value, form, space, color, and texture). From, their 2nd quarter, they began drafting their stories, building their worlds, designing their characters, and bringing them together as scenes. Over quarter 3, much of this preparation was digitized on the drawing app: Adobe Fresco. There’s no doubt that this school year has challenged them. Think about it: writing and storytelling, drawing, and using technology.

Lastly, I’ve also included some of their smaller projects like those from our advanced 5th and 6th grade art class and the creative collab between 45 of our artists across both the Elementary and Middle school campus.

This website is a celebration of our hard work! Enjoy!

  • "Don't draw to impress people. Draw for yourself."

    —Cooper J., 7th grade

  • "Try your best, and don't go too hard on yourself."

    —Liliana, 5th grade

  • "Ignore the haters!"

    —Ivan A., 8th grade

  • "Do whatever you want, really. Get an idea, turn it into something, and do the best you can."

    —Tecumseh, 7th grade

What’s next for our artists?

As the school year comes to an end, they’ll continue to learn and grow in not only merging images and words together, but also in organizing them in a way that helps readers curiously move through the story.

During their 4th quarter, they’ll bring you sequels, or perhaps even whole new stories. Who knows? They keep me on my toes too. These comics are a work in progress. We’d like to encourage you to check back in over the 4th quarter as we continue to update this website.
