Being an artist is important to the world/ society because art inspires. What inspired me to become an artist when I was watching old cartoons, comics, books, and games. I really liked the art style. So, I tried to mimic it. I would pause the game or show I was watching and just sketch what I saw. I like to listen to music or have something playing in the background as I work. My favorite mediums are pen and colored pencil on paper.
I eyeball for mistakes or errors different from what I saw in my head to know if my artwork is finished. I normally just wing it and choose whatever comes to my mind. I use reference images to get inspiration. My art style is Old Timey, Cartoony, Horror, Rubberhose. It’s just my way of expressing myself and what I see. I try over again or if it looks cool I just go with it. Mistakes don't stop me.
My biggest challenge is getting the details just right sometimes. I’m struggling with finding interest in other art styles. Two of my goals that I have as an artist are to one day become an animator and possibly work on other large commissioned projects or to become a storyboard/concept artist.
My advice to a beginner is to keep practicing even if it doesn't look good. Don't let a mistake stop you.
