Millie
Hello, I’m Millie. Artists are important to society and the world because they can spread creativity and ideas, for what to make, and what to make it for. I’ve always really liked to make things, drawing, crafting, and more. My mom is an artist, and so is my grandma. I first got started when I was really little, around 3 or 4 years old. I first remembered drawing and coloring on this kid’s educational app, and started making cards (birthday, holiday, etc.) I loved drawing, going through notebooks in weeks. My favorite artist would probably be Jackson Pollock, or Jean Michael Basquiat. In third grade, we started learning about Jackson Pollock, and made Pollock paintings, which I really liked, and use splat painting a lot.
My favorite medium would either be pencil and paper, or inking. My artstyle is a bit alternative-type style, and chaotic, messy, or toned-down. It’s a bit of a mix of my previous art styles, as well as testing out different ways I liked. To choose what I draw, I try to think of things that first come to mind, and develop it a bit more, try it, go along with it, and make it the best that I can. For creative decision-deciding, I like to see what works, test out different ways to draw it, and what makes the most sense for me. When I make a mistake, I either try to rework what I just did, make something new out of it, or try again. When I have a deadline, I try to get the most done as I can, and I usually work on it at home in my free time. To stay motivated, I just remind myself that I gotta keep going because I know I will not have the motivation to do it again if I quit now, so I like to do the most in one run, though it takes a few days. When an artwork is finished, I know by seeing if it’s the best I can do, and the most I can make of this. As an artist now, the biggest challenge is probably getting ideas onto paper. If I have an idea, it can be hard to execute it exactly how you think it should, and it might not be how you think it will turn out, or how you hope it turns out, but it will work out. I hope to get better at realism and drawing people. To continue growing as an artist, I have to learn more that can help me improve my skills to get better and better. Now, if you were just starting art, I’d say: Keep going. I hope to do art professionally and sell my art, and maybe teach it.
Your artwork will be better as you learn and improve your skills, and mistakes, just let it go.
